Ockerman Automation has been providing the industry with electrical engineering, automation, programming, design, manufacturing, and integration for many years. Today these capabilities continue with the added focus in hybrid and electric vessels. A team of electrical engineers, designers, and programmers work to develop bridge consoles, power distribution systems, and hybrid and electric propulsion systems.
Ockerman Automation has put together a team of marine, mechanical, and electrical engineers that have a broad range of experience designing and integrating various technologies and systems on-board marine vessels. This includes working with vendors and yards to specify and install electric-drive systems, energy storage systems, and their coinciding support systems into new build and refit projects. Our marine engineers also provide support to more traditional marine engineering projects such as machinery arrangements, auxiliary systems design, propulsion and steering system design and mechanical system design.
Ockerman Automation’s team of Naval Architects focus on weight estimation, stability, structure, hydrodynamic design, speed and power predictions, and energy storage sizing. This includes model test programs, sea trials, and inclining experiments. The Naval Architects work closely with the Automation team to optimize ESS packaging and integration.
Ockerman has been manufacturing switchboards, bridge consoles, ECR panels, and drive cabinets for over 30 years. All Bridge fabrication, Integrated Bridge, and Human Machine Interfaces are designed and built in house. Following the equipment layout & design review with the customer, Ockerman will custom manufacture Bridge Consoles to exacting precision & standards out of CNC formed metal. Base enclosures and machined billets of T6 machined aluminum with captive fasteners for component mounting surfaces. All metal parts are formed fit, cleaned, de greased, prepped with anodic dipped primer and either wet spray or powder coat with RAL to customer choice of finish achieving amazing results. We manufacture solutions with exacting technical precision balanced with human factors in order to ensure proper form, fit, and function.
